About Us
My name is George Wood and what started out as a hobby for me, has quickly grown into a business. I have always been interested in fishing and outdoor activities. I love to fish and have gone on many fishing party boats, private guide boats, etc. I happened upon rod making as I was trying to replace a broken guide on a rod and I went on YouTube and the rest is history. I made my first rod for one of our customers of the company I work for and soon after that customer’s co-workers were requesting rods as well. Soon I had so many orders this was no longer a hobby but a side business. That’s how Biggie’s Rod Shack was created. Biggie was my beloved Corgie that passed away from cancer a few years ago. My rods became very popular with my company’s customers and their friends & families. I enjoy the hand crafting of making a rod picking out the different colors and types of winding threads and watching it turn into a work of art. Only problem is sometimes it’s hard to let go of a rod that I have put a lot of time and creativity into but so worth it when I see the joy on the face of the person who is receiving it.
